Other things to include on a memorial

Deciding what to include on a headstone inscription can be a difficult task but here at Quinn Memorials, we want to help remove any stress from your difficult time. At Quinn Memorials, we have almost 20 years of experience and over the years we have inscribed many meaningful messages to headstones. This blog will hopefully provide you with inspiration and guidance about what to include in your loved one’s memorial.

A phrase on a headstone is known as an epitaph and usually includes a short message, quote or saying along with the full name of the person who has passed and their birth date and death date.

Phrases to use on a headstone

A headstone lasts for a very long time and will be around when you no longer are, so it is important that you convey the right language and tone when it comes to a memorial headstone and we understand that it can be difficult to know what to include.

These are some common phrases that will hopefully provide comfort to those who visit

●  A long life well lived
●  Together again
●  Great love lives on
●  An inspiration to so many
●  Asleep in Jesus
●  Always loving, always loved
●  With a greater thing to do
●  Love is enough
●  Remembered with love
●  Our brief partings on Earth will appear one day as nothing beside the joy of eternity together.
●  Your love will light my way
●  No one spread more love in a lifetime

●  Missed by all
●  Life is not forever – love is.
●  Until we meet again
●  Gone but not forgotten
●  Beloved by all who knew them
●  In loving memory
●  Ours is love everlasting
●  Treasured memories of our beloved parents
●  Once met, never forgotten
●  In God’s care
●  Your love will light my way

●  Forever in our hearts

Other things to include on a memorial

Poem: You could include a line from a poem that your loved one who has passed used to love. This is a touching way to encapsulate their interests and adding a line from their favourite poem or a poem that reminds you of them is a touching and beautiful thing to add to a memorial.

A saying: One special way that you can remember your loved one is by adding a saying that is unique to them on their memorial. Whether it is a funny phrase that they used to say or just one that reminds you of them – it can be a great addition to your loved one’s memorial.

Photograph: Some family members find it comforting to have a picture of their loved one displayed on their headstone. When choosing a picture, make sure that is it one where your loved one is smiling or from a moment where they were happy.

Design: The design of a headstone is something that you can customise to represent the interests and values of your loved one. Here at Quinn Memorials, you will find a range of headstones that include hearts, teddy bears, scrolls and crosses. Finding a design and illustration that is representative of the person who has passed can be a charming touch that encapsulates their personality.
